Mission & Goals
Wildlife Works is an innovative conservation organization founded in 1997 that designs and implements market-based solutions to protect threatened and endangered wildlife while delivering tangible benefits to local communities. Its core objective is to align wildlife conservation with economic viability, particularly through REDD+ initiatives that reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, conserve biodiversity, and generate measurable climate and social outcomes. In partnership with forest communities, Wildlife Works develops and manages carbon and biodiversity projects across voluntary and regulated markets, providing economic, financial, administrative, and technical expertise.
EU Legislative Interests
We are interested in joining the European Commission’s Informal Expert Group on Nature Credits (DG Environment). One of the requirements of the call is registration in the Transparency Register.
Communication Activities
To date, Wildlife Works has not engaged in direct communication activities or formal interactions with European Union institutions, including the European Commission, the European Parliament, or the Council, in relation to the policies and processes referenced above. Nonetheless, the organization actively contributes at national and international levels through communication and engagement activities focused on nature-based solutions, the integrity and transparency of environmental markets, and the strengthening of socio-environmental safeguards, particularly in high-biodiversity regions and developing country contexts. These activities include participation in global sustainability networks, international conferences and initiatives on climate, biodiversity, and nature finance, as well as the production and dissemination of technical content and best practices in collaboration with civil society, the private sector, academic institutions, and public authorities. The objective is to contribute technically to the advancement of good practices and international standards related to nature credits, biodiversity financing mechanisms and nature-based solutions, which are also relevant to the policies currently under discussion within the European Union.
