Mission & Goals
Wetsus is the coordinator of an industry driven research programme in which over 112 European and global companies actively participate. They collaborate with 26 European research centers through Wetsus. In 2024 55 PHD candidates linked to 26 universities and research centers in 9 EU countries were working on research projects in the Wetsus laboratory. These breakthrough research projects have already resulted in over 1009 highly cited research papers, 104 high value patents and 47 spin-off companies. Also the participating companies have improved their technologies and solutions, which are exported on the global market and integrated into various value chains. Wetsus actively contributes to the development of sustainable water technology, which helps to solve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reduce environmental pollution, enables the circular economy, boosts water resilience, provides renewable energy, stores CO2 and improves the availability of clean water sources.
