Mission & Goals

The main aim of WB6 CIF association is to provide a joint voice to the business community in the region, to facilitate inter-business contacts, to influence adoption or implementation of policy or legislation, or the decision-making processes and promote the region as one investment destination. WB6 CIF represents joint interests of WB6 business community in the process of adoption of EU aquis relevant for enlargement policies. WB6 CIF represents around 350,000 companies, mostly small and medium-sized enterprises in its mission to open new opportunities for stronger networking of business communities within the region by removing the remaining obstacles to the development of the regional economic cooperation and improving business and investment climate in the markets of the WB region through adoption of new legislations or changing existing ones. EU Legislative Interests

• Some of the targeted legislative proposals and targeted policies are: WB6 Enlargement policy Stabilization and Association Agreements between EU and all WB6 economies (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Kosovo) • Monitoring of the activities and maintaining communication with the officials and policy advisors within the DG NEAR, DG CONNECT, DG JUST, DG MOVE, DG ENERGY, DG ENVI; DG GROW, DG AGRI;

Communication Activities

•In 2020 WB6 CIF has, jointly with EC, established WB6 - EU Business Platform with aim to facilitate dialogue between EU policy makers and WB6 business community on how to leverage up European accession perspectives to create more opportunities for trade, investment and other forms of business cooperation between the two sides. The Platform also seeks to identify problems that businesses face either in cross-border activity or in the application of EU regulation and to influence the formulation or implementation of concrete policy or legislation, or the decision-making processes of the EU institutions policies and to suggest concrete solutions. In the last 3 years 4 meetings of the Business Platform have been conducted and 2 additional, tailor-made meetings with local SMEs and EU decision makers on following topics: Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/159 of 31 January 2019 imposing definitive safeguard measures against imports of certain steel products; EU Green Deal Energy Taxation Directive and EU Single-Use Plastic Directive; Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) etc
