Mission & Goals
WeBuust Oy is a Finnish AI-driven venture development company building infrastructure to identify, structure and accelerate investment-ready enterprises from research and innovation ecosystems. Our platform combines artificial intelligence with human expertise to commercialise early-stage ventures — turning university research, entrepreneurial talent and emerging technologies into scalable companies aligned with European competitiveness and Global Gateway development objectives. We operate at the intersection of AI commercialisation, private-sector development, university–industry collaboration and EU external action, with a focus on partnerships between European technology providers and emerging markets. Our goal is to expand European AI standards, governance and commercial reach through deployable venture infrastructure that delivers measurable economic, technological and developmental impact.
EU Legislative Interests
WeBuust's engagement with EU policy focuses on the following areas: (1) Global Gateway Strategy and the Global Gateway Early-Stage Investment Mechanism (EuropeAid/184659/DH/ACT/Multi) — as lead applicant for the West Africa AI Commercialisation Infrastructure (WAAIC) project. We engage with policy implementation supporting EU strategic partnerships and investment infrastructure in third countries. (2) EU AI Act (Regulation 2024/1689) and related AI governance frameworks — particularly the application of EU AI standards in the deployment of venture-development infrastructure abroad, ensuring exportable European norms on trustworthy AI, transparency and risk management. (3) EU Digital Strategy and Digital Decade 2030 targets — including initiatives to scale European AI capacity, skills and infrastructure both domestically and in partner countries. (4) Horizon Europe and EU R&I policy — commercialisation of European research outputs, university–industry collaboration, deep-tech entrepreneurship and the European Innovation Council framework. (5) EU SME Strategy, Industrial Strategy and Capital Markets Union — mechanisms supporting European deep-tech SMEs in scaling internationally and accessing development-finance instruments. (6) NDICI–Global Europe and EU external action priorities, including the EU–Africa Partnership, EU support to higher education and private-sector development in Sub-Saharan Africa, and Team Europe Initiatives in West Africa. (7) EU development-finance policy, blended finance, EFSD+ instruments, and the role of private-sector actors in achieving EU development objectives and the UN SDGs. Having established our own operational footprint in Africa through Nigeria, our engagement is primarily through formal calls for proposals, EU public consultations on AI and digital policy, and project-based collaboration with EU-funded counterparts. We do not engage in advocacy on behalf of third-party clients.
