Mission & Goals
Water Europe (WE) is the recognized voice and promotor of water-related innovation, research, and technology development in Europe. WE is a vision-driven multi-stakeholder association with over 300 members, representing the entire range of actors in the innovative water ecosystem. WE was established by the European Commission as a European Technology Platform. WE is guided in all its activities by its Water Vision, with the ultimate ambition of achieving a Water-Smart Society, in which: • the value of water is recognised and realised to ensure water security, sustainability, and resilience. • all available water sources are managed so that water scarcity and pollution are avoided. • water and resource loops are largely closed to foster a circular economy and optimal resource efficiency. • the water system is resilient against the impact of climate and demographic change. • all relevant stakeholders are engaged in guaranteeing sustainable water governance.
EU Legislative Interests
Participation in stakeholders consultations linked to water issues organized by the EC: stakeholders consultation for HORIZON EUROPE Following and monitoring the development of DG ENVIRONEMENT and other DGs' action on water; Following and monitoring the evaluation and/or revision of the EU's water legislation (Water Framework Directive, UWWTD, Sewage Sludge Directive, etc..), Water Resilience Strategy.
Communication Activities
• Organise on a regular basis a number of brokerage events, workshops and info-days that foster networking and collaboration in the water sector. • Organise the annual stakeholders’ event ‘Water Innovation Europe’ that offers an open platform for discussion and networking among key stakeholders. • Publish monthly external and internal newsletters, as well as press releases and newsflashes to provide WE members and water professionals with the all the latest insights of its activities. • Publish scientific reports that put forward clear recommendations for Research and Technology development and Innovation within the European water sector. • Participate to project consortia for communication and dissemination of project activities and results.

Water Europe is a growing organisation serving a challenging mission which aims to develop collaboration between the different stakeholders working in the water sector. WE cooperates with/ is involved in the Water4All PPP, ASPIRE AISBL/Process4Planet AISBL, Federation of European and International Associations established in Belgium, European Society of Association Executives, and other associations.

Additional Information
Water Europe is participating in EU research Projects (Horizon2020/ Horizon Europe) as a service to members. the main role for the association is communication and dissemination of projects results at the EU level, networking, clustering of different projects on similar themes, developing policy impact strategies of the research projects.
