Mission & Goals

VSO is a development agency that works through volunteers. We are a global leader in volunteering for development, bringing together youth, community and international volunteers to contribute their skills alongside each other in programmes which have a long-term and sustainable impact on poverty across the countries we work in. Our vision is a fair world for everyone. Our mission: Creating lasting change through volunteering. We bring about change not by sending aid, but by working with volunteers and partners to empower people living in some of the world’s poorest and fragile regions. Our ambition remains is to make a significant contribution towards achieving the SDGs using the transformational power of volunteering. We run programmes in health, education and livelihoods in 24 countries across Africa and Asia, all of which embed our core approaches of resilience, social accountability and inclusion (especially women, youth, people with disabilities).
