Mission & Goals

Viridian Lithium (“Viridian”) is a company incorporated and registered in France, with company number (SIREN) 905026795 whose registered office is 9 rue de la Krutenau, Strasbourg, 67000, France. The Company was incorporated in 2021. Viridian Lithium develops an independent lithium refinery project in Lauterbourg, Alsace (France), that will provide for the conversion and purification of lithium salts used as cathode precursors for the manufacturing of lithium-ion batteries for Electric Vehicles. Viridian Lithium will operate primarily as a service company based on a tolling commercial model to convert various grades of lithium carbonate to refined battery-grade lithium hydroxide monohydrate (“LHM”) under long term contracts with various customers. Excess capacity may be utilized by Viridian on a merchant model. Phase 1a of the Project is to establish a LHM Process Train 1 for the production of battery-grade LHM with a capacity of 28,500 tonnes per annum (“tpa”) LHM product.

Viridian Lithium seek to contribute to: - EU Battery Regulation: REGULATION (EU) 2023/1542 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 12 July 2023 concerning batteries and waste batteries, amending Directive 2008/98/EC and Regulation (EU) 2019/1020 and repealing Directive 2006/66/EC + related Delegated acts; - CRM Act: REGULATION (EU) 2024/1252 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 11 April 2024 establishing a framework for ensuring a secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials and amending Regulations (EU) No 168/2013, (EU) 2018/858, (EU) 2018/1724 and (EU) 2019/1020 + related Delegated acts;

Communication Activities

Viridian Lithium has been selected as a Strategic Project by the European Commission under the Critical Raw Materials Act. Viridian Lithium has provided feedback on the DELEGATED REGULATION (EU) act supplementing Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 of the European Parliament and of the Council by establishing the methodology for calculation and verification of rates for recycling efficiency and recovery of materials from waste batteries, and the format for the documentation (20/09/2024).
