Additional Information
The main purpose of Veterinary Ireland is to represent members at a national level (i.e. within Ireland). As a voluntary membership body, Veterinary Ireland utilises its members to undertake work on behalf of the organisation and its membership. This work is undertaken free of charge by members, with only travel at minimum rates being claimed. The employees of Veterinary Ireland only support the volunteers in any work under this capacity. Also, since the onset of COVID-19, most work undertaken by member volunteers has been via electronic means, and so there has been no travel costs incurred. Thus the €10,000 estimate of budgetary provisions is an accurate estimate, based on previous years’ expenditure, and insofar that the majority of this work is undertaken by volunteer members, at little or no cost to our organisation.
