Mission & Goals
Verra is dedicated to: - The objectives of the Paris Climate Agreement and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and, ultimately, climate protection. - Greenhouse gas emission reduction and removals and restoration of biodiversity through setting high-quality, globally-relevant certification standards and creating scientifically rigorous, transparent methodologies. - Promoting societal equity and environmental integrity through best practice knowledge sharing via publicly accessible standards, methodologies, and registry of certification projects. As an independent standard-setting body, Verra promotes the growth, credibility, and functionality of carbon and environmental market initiatives worldwide and supports effective models of private sector engagement in climate and nature finance.
