Mission & Goals
VERBUND is Austria's leading electricity company and one of the largest producers of electricity from hydropower in Europe. In 2024 Verbund achieved an annual revenue of 8.2 billion Euro with approx. 4400 employees. VERBUND covers all sectors of the energy supply chain – from the production and transportation of electricity to international sales and marketing. Approx. 96% of the electricity generation originates from renewable sources, with the majority stemming from hydropower. VERBUND’s hydropower plants, mainly located in Austria and Bavaria (Germany), have a capacity of 8.7 Gigawatt (GW). The production portfolio is supplemented by wind, photovoltaic and two thermal power plants. VERBUND's unbundled subsidiaries Austrian Power Grid (APG) and Gas Connect Austria (GCA), operate Austria's tranmission systems for electricity and gas respectively.
