Mission & Goals
The University of Brighton (UoB) is a community of 17,000 students and 2,150 staff based on three campuses in the coastal city of Brighton. In 2021 UoB was awarded a Silver Athena SWAN award which promotes gender quality, representation and progression for all staff across all academic disciplines. UoB is a member of the Race Equality Charter in recognition of our continued efforts towards driving race equality and equity, the university was awarded Silver in 2025. We are a proud Stonewall Diversity Champion, supporting fair practice in relation to the employment of LGBTQ staff. UoB researchers contribute significantly to social, cultural, economic and environmental wellbeing across a broad range of research topics, from the arts, humanities & science. In 2024 the EC announced that UoB had retained its ‘HR Excellence in Research’ award. The award recognises the continued & innovative work by UoB to enhance working conditions for researchers as set out in the European Charter & Code.

The University of Brighton actively engages in Horizon Europe (and in previous Framework Programmes since their inception) including European Research Council and MSCA funding and previously the ERASMUS programmes, EU Structural Funds including Interreg programmes. .
