Mission & Goals
Founded in 1966 as a reform university, the University of Konstanz stands for cutting-edge research, excellence in teaching and study, internationality as well as inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration. With around 10,000 students, 230 professors, and 860 academic staff members it is one of the smaller universities in Germany and is organized into 13 departments across three faculties: "Sciences", "Humanities", and "Politics, Law, and Economics". UKON fosters collaboration through flat hierarchies, open structures and a strong integration of research and teaching creating an environment where creativity and innovation thrive. With its unique profile the University of Konstanz has been successful in the German excellence competition since 2007.
