Mission & Goals
The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), located in Bellaterra near Barcelona, is one of the major public universities in Spain. Currently, the university offers more than 100 bachelor’s degrees, covering a wide range of fields in humanities and arts, social sciences, health sciences, technology and physical sciences. The UAB also offers more than 140 master’s degrees, as well as 9 Erasmus Mundus master's degrees. Finally, the UAB runs 67 doctoral programs and an average of 800 PhD dissertations are defended per year. The UAB has over 40,000 students, almost 6,000 researchers and teaching staff, and hosts more than 5,000 foreign students. The UAB has been acknowledged for its excellence in promoting quality in teaching and in attracting international talent. In the 2024 edition of the QS World University Rankings, the UAB placed first among Spanish universities, 149th in the world ranking and 60th within Europe.
