Mission & Goals
UEFA is the governing body for football in Europe with a membership comprising 55 national football associations across the entire continent, including all 27 Member States of the European Union. Our mission is to develop football at all levels, amateur and professional, and to deal with all questions relating to European football. At EU level, we focus on how European football can support EU public policy priorities including e.g. climate action, equality for all and social inclusion. We work in partnership with the EU institutions to protect and promote the solidarity and values-based European sports model, including the open, meritocratic and pyramidal structure of European football.
EU Legislative Interests
- Education & Culture (e.g. dual careers and training, comparability of diplomas, cross-border recognition of diplomas, VET, sport in schools and education, voluntary activity) - Digital Single Market (e.g. copyright and IPR, anti-piracy, digital services act, AVMSD) - Free movement of workers (mutual recognition of qualifications, homegrown players rule, transfer market rules, equal treatment of non-nationals in sport) - Competition policy (financial fair play, collective selling media rights, competitive balance, transfer market rules, state aid to sport) - Security & Justice (protection of minors, access in sport, good governance, fight against corruption, fight against match fixing, anti-doping, safety in stadiums, equality and diversity, fight against racism) - Environment & Public health (green agenda, sustainability in sport and mega events (incl. waste, plastics, transport emissions etc), sustainability in stadiums, physical activity guidelines, anti-obesity strategy, Be Active campaign)
