Mission & Goals

UKRAINIAN TOURIST GUIDES ASSOCIATION is a association of professional tourist guides, non-governmental, non-political and non-profit organization. It was created to unite tourist guides, managers, museum guides and other tourism professionals to improve the quality of their work, increase the role and prestige value of the profession in Ukrainian society. UKRAINIAN TOURIST GUIDES ASSOCIATION • Represents Ukraine in two international professional communities: the EUROPEAN FEDERATION OF TOURIST GUIDE ASSOCIATIONS (FEG) and the WORLD FEDERATION OF TRAVEL GUIDES ASSOCIATIONS (WFTGA) • Conducts training courses for beginners and professionals, lectures on history and culture, entrepreneurship, marketing, psychology, conflict resolution as well as various workshops for the organization’s members.

EU Legislative Interests

European Tourism Agenda 2030 – Supporting sustainable and digital transformation in the tourism sector. Council Recommendation on the Mobility of Young Volunteers Across the EU – Enhancing opportunities for cross-border youth exchanges. European Skills Agenda – Fostering entrepreneurship and digital skills among young professionals, including those in the tourism industry. EU Social Economy Action Plan – Promoting social entrepreneurship and innovation in local communities. Directive on Transparent and Predictable Working Conditions (2019/1152) – Ensuring fair working conditions for young tourism professionals and freelancers. Erasmus+ Regulation (2021–2027) – Expanding access to international mobility and training programs for youth and professionals in tourism. Digital Services Act – Addressing online promotion and accessibility of tourism services while ensuring consumer protection.

Communication Activities

Events & Workshops: organized and participated in professional seminars and workshops aimed at aligning Ukrainian tour guide standards with European Qualification Framework (EQF) levels 4, 5, and 6 to foster professional mobility and service quality. Campaigns: conducted information campaigns for association members regarding the EU Pact for Skills in tourism and the transition towards sustainable and digital tourism (EU Transition Pathway for Tourism). Digital Outreach: development and implementation of an "Open Badges" digital verification system to promote transparency of professional qualifications in line with EU digital education and transparency initiatives. Publications: published internal guidelines and online resources for tour guides on complying with European standards of tourist safety, accessibility, and cultural heritage promotion. Stakeholder Engagement: regular communication with national and regional tourism boards to advocate for the adoption of EU-aligned certification systems for tourism professionals.

Organisation Members

Currently, the Association only has individual members. There are no corporate members at all. According to the results of the annual registration of the Association's participants for 2025, 596 participants were registered. 95 percent are tour guides. Of these, approximately 5 percent are teachers of specialized educational institutions and heads of travel companies (tour operators). Approximately half of all members of the Association (250 - 300) have the status of temporarily displaced persons (refugees) or are located outside Ukraine in various countries of the world.
