Mission & Goals
Transparency International in Bosnia and Herzegovina (TI BiH) is a national chapter of the global Transparency International movement since 2001, working towards a society founded on justice, transparency, and accountability, capable of preventing and sanctioning corruption. Our mission is to drive systemic changes and articulate citizens’ demands for responsible, transparent, and efficient governance, in partnership with public, private, and civil society actors. TI BiH promotes the rule of law, integrity, and public accountability through research, legal aid, advocacy, and public awareness initiatives. Our strategic objectives focus on protecting public resources, ensuring integrity in politics, strengthening law enforcement and justice, and safeguarding civil society. Our geographical scope is national, covering all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina (state, entity, cantonal, and local), with active engagement in regional and international anti-corruption efforts.
EU Legislative Interests
Transparency International Bosnia and Herzegovina (TI BiH) carries out analytical, advocacy and monitoring activities related to the EU’s rule of law and anti-corruption agenda, with a focus on transparency, integrity and accountability in public institutions. These activities are directly linked to the EU accession process of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to the implementation of reforms under the European Commission’s key priorities for enlargement. TI BiH regularly participates in European Commission consultations for the Bosnia and Herzegovina Country Report, providing expert input and evidence-based assessments of progress in anti-corruption reforms, the rule of law and governance. The organisation also organises consultations with representatives of the EU Delegation and other EU institutions on specific legislative processes that form part of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s EU integration path, as well as meetings with representatives of EU Member States to inform and advocate for the advancement of reforms. As part of the Initiative for Monitoring the European Integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a coalition of civil society organisations, TI BiH organises annual advocacy visits to Brussels to present civil society perspectives to EU decision-makers and their staff on the country’s reform process and fulfilment of EU-related obligations.
Communication Activities
Transparency International Bosnia and Herzegovina (TI BiH) carries out communication and advocacy activities focused on transparency, integrity and accountability within Bosnia and Herzegovina’s EU integration process. Activities include annual and thematic reports on anti-corruption and rule of law reforms, policy briefs and position papers with recommendations to the EU Delegation, European Commission and Member States, as well as public events and consultations on legislative processes related to the EU acquis. TI BiH also submits recommendations from civil society to EU institutions and, at the national level, promotes, monitors and advocates for the implementation of the European Commission’s recommendations to Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition, the organisation conducts information and awareness campaigns on the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina, promoting alignment of national legislation with EU law and the values of good governance and integrity.
