EU Legislative Interests

Directive 2001/18/EC on the deliberate release into the environment of genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and the current proposal to amend or reopen this Directive to exclude new genomic techniques (NGTs) from existing requirements such as risk assessment, labeling, and traceability.

Communication Activities

The communication activities consist in sharing informational and awareness material to MEPs in paper format. Our communication activities focus on raising awareness among EU institutions about issues affecting organic agriculture, biodiversity, and sustainable food systems. We engage policymakers on topics such as the protection of organic farming, the environmental and health risks of chemical pesticides, and the impacts of potential deregulation of GMOs and new genomic techniques (NGTs). Our aim is to promote policies that safeguard biodiversity, support sustainable agriculture, and ensure a healthy environment for future generations.

Additional Information

Turtle is a small company with limited advocacy resources. Our annual costs related to the activities covered by the Register are approximately €200–300, corresponding to the design, printing, and limited distribution of postcards and small cereal samples to MEPs. We do not have staff dedicated solely to these activities; they are managed within our general marketing and management operations. As our office is located in Brussels, there are no travel or representation costs related to these actions.
