Mission & Goals
TURKONFED (Turkish Business Confederation) is a non-governmental and nonpartisan business organization, aiming to contribute to the development of regional, sectoral and national economic policies in Türkiye. Established in 2004, TURKONFED today represents 31 federations and over 360 associations with more than 60,000 companies as members. TURKONFED is a member of SMEunited, which represents over 22 million SMEs from 30 European countries. In this respect TURKONFED is a bridge between the Turkish business world and the European Union. Additionally, members from across the globe gather under TURKONFED International platform. TURKONFED has three main functions: Policy design/advocacy, capacity development and business development. 8 Commissions undertake these functions: Economic Development & Sustainability, Women in Business World, Regional Development, Sectoral Development, Youth, Education & Entrepreneurship, Digital Transformation, Green Transition and Access to Finance.
EU Legislative Interests
EU Trade Policy and EU – Türkiye Customs Union modernisation. SMEs and entrepreneurial policies. Clean Industrial Deal. Industrial Accelerator Act, European Product Act (EPA), European Green Deal and related green transition legislation. Omnibus and ESG related developments and EU legislative files on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence, Corporate Sustainability Reporting, EU Taxonomy, Sustainable finance, Ecodesign for Sustainable Product, EUDR etc. RepowerEU, Net Zero industry and overall energy security and transition. Legislative agenda on the digital transformation, cyber security related legislation (Cyber Security Act 2.0, Cyber Resilience Act, NIS2 etc.), AI Act, AI Continent Action Plan, Cloud and AI Development Act, European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs), cross border data transfers, Data Act, Data Governance Act and GDPR. Youth policies, Gender equality and Women entrepreneurship, Social and sustainable development policies.
Communication Activities
TURKONFED has inaugurated the "Responsible Business Conduct Helpdesk" in partnership with German Development Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) on supporting business to navigate the upcoming environmental and human rights (ESG) due diligence legislations in the supply chains. https://www.rbhturkiye.com/en TURKONFED has partnered with UNDP to set up CBI - Connecting Business Initiative network in Turkiye, for disaster preparedness and business resilience. Consequently, TURKONFED has played an important role for private sector collaboration and humanitarian response in the 2023 earthquakes.
