Mission & Goals

Treatment Action Group (TAG) is an independent, activist, and community-based research and policy think tank fighting to end HIV, tuberculosis (TB), and hepatitis C virus (HCV). TAG envisions the end of the HIV, TB, and HCV pandemics with the discovery, development, and worldwide dissemination of safe and effective diagnostics, preventives, and cures through public health structures that end systemic harms and promote human rights, and that are developed by the diverse communities most affected by these conditions. TAG catalyzes open collective action by affected communities, scientists, and policymakers to ensure that all people living with or impacted by HIV, TB, or HCV — especially communities of color and other marginalized communities experiencing inequities — receive life-saving prevention, diagnosis, treatment, care, and information.

Additional Information

Please note that the estimate of annual costs related to activities covered by the Register is estimated to be very low as Treatment Action Group (TAG) is a USA-based organization that engages with the EU on narrow, discrete topics and not as a matter of our primary mission. Our engagement is limited to EU policies and programmes related to global health research, specifically within the sub-field of infectious diseases and primarily focused on tuberculosis (TB). Estimates of staff time reflect reasonable estimates of effort given to these activities and to supervising the work of a Brussels-based consultant, Karen Hoehn of Bonstar Consulting, with whom TAG has a contractual relationship to outsource relevant representation activities. Our contract with Karen Hoehn totals USD $25,000 (~EUR 22,100) for the period January 2025 through March 2026, subject to renewal at similar level of effort.
