Mission & Goals

Toyota Motor Europe (TME) oversees the wholesale sales and marketing of Toyota, GR and Lexus vehicles, parts and accessories, as well as Toyota’s European manufacturing and engineering operations. Toyota directly employs over 25,000 people and has invested over 12 bn € in Europe since 1990. Toyota has 8 European manufacturing plants, a network of 28 sales and marketing companies and around 2,700 retail sales outlets in 52 countries. In the pursuit of "Mobility for All", Toyota aims to create safer, more connected, inclusive and sustainable mobility to achieve its mission of producing “Happiness for All”. In Europe, TME launched the KINTO mobility brand and is growing its B2B sales of zero-emission fuel cell products. Toyota is working to achieve carbon neutrality in its entire business across Europe. TME aims to achieve 100% CO2 reduction in all new vehicles in Western Europe by 2035 and will continue to offer a full range of electrified powertrains to customers across the region.

Either directly or through trade associations, TME is involved in the following policy and legislative dossiers: - Technical Regulation and Internal Market: type-approval, polluting emissions, vehicle safety and noise regulations - European Green Deal & 'Fit for 55' policies: Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation, CO2 emissions standards for cars and vans, Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, Renewable Energy Directive - Energy policy: fuel quality, renewable energy, energy taxation - Transport policy: Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy, Road Safety Action Plan - Environment: battery, end-of-life vehicles - Trade: UK-EU relations, etc. - Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), automated and connected driving - Data-related and other digital regulations - Sustainable finance - Block exemption regulation - European Research & Innovation policy The current list is subject to change as circumstances affecting the automotive business evolve.
