Mission & Goals
Using data as our guide, the Together for Girls partnership raises awareness, promotes evidence-based solutions, and galvanizes multisectoral action to end violence against children. We have a special focus on preventing sexual violence against girls. The partnership brings together more than 20 national governments, civil society organizations, UN entities, development partners and the private sector to improve violence prevention, healing and justice. Together for Girls is the host of Brave Movement, a survivor-centered movement, fighting for the right of all children and adolescents to live a life in safety and with dignity free from sexual violence.
EU Legislative Interests
EU strategy on the rights of the child Proposal for safer internet for children - laying down rules to prevent and combat child sexual abuse Better Internet for Kids strategy - The Brave Movement strongly backs the draft legislation to end childhood sexual violence announced today by the European Commission under the leadership of the EU Commissioner for Home Affairs. The Brave Movement intends to work with the EU’s leadership to mobilize adult survivors of childhood sexual violence and our allies to ensure rapid passage of this historic regulation to ensure the safety of children, adolescents and future generations. Statutes of limitations for prosecuting child sexual abuse cases - The Brave Movement calls on all governments to ensure that survivors have effective access to justice. This means urgently passing laws that abolish criminal and civil statutes of limitations (SOLs) to guarantee that survivors can bring perpetrators and complicit institutions to justice. Investment in tackling child sexual violence - The Brave Movement is demanding sufficient investment funds to protect and prevent all forms of childhood sexual abuse. Our work will enable social norms to be shifted to break the barriers of silence and thus reduce the stigma for survivors and their families. We know that incidents of childhood sexual violence are widespread, but they are preventable. Transformational policies and programs must be developed, implemented and scaled to stop childhood sexual violence. The Brave Movement is demanding that policymakers enact bold ambitious global and national agendas to increase attention, pressure and accountability and create the political will to act.We believe that investment can increase exponentially with a new global financing and action architecture institution. We are calling for at least An initial commitment of $10 billion of increased funding each year would fund the Global End Violence Fund for global prevention, healing and justice programs. Our survivors and allies demand that G7 leaders launch and push for the fund to be endorsed in the G7 Communiqué.
