Mission & Goals
The Spot is an independent community and innovation hub based in Bratislava, Slovakia. Its mission is to support entrepreneurship, leadership development, and collaboration between business, civil society, education, and public institutions. The organisation operates coworking and community spaces that host startups, entrepreneurs, and mission-driven organisations. Through events, educational programs, mentoring initiatives, and community activities, The Spot promotes innovation, knowledge sharing, and the development of entrepreneurial and leadership skills. The Spot also develops and supports initiatives aimed at strengthening communities and improving the quality of public dialogue, including programs focused on youth entrepreneurship, school leadership, and civic engagement. The organisation provides a platform for collaboration among stakeholders from different sectors to address social and economic challenges and to support sustainable development.
EU Legislative Interests
Our organisation follows and occasionally contributes to discussions related to EU initiatives supporting entrepreneurship, innovation ecosystems and education. Relevant EU policies and initiatives include: The New European Innovation Agenda (European Commission, 2022) The EU Startup and Scaleup Strategy Horizon Europe – Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (2021–2027) Digital Europe Programme European Skills Agenda for Sustainable Competitiveness, Social Fairness and Resilience Erasmus+ Programme (2021–2027) Our activities in relation to these initiatives mainly consist of hosting discussions, events and educational programmes that connect entrepreneurs, educators and civil society organisations and allow the exchange of practical perspectives from innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems. The organisation does not conduct lobbying activities on behalf of third parties and does not maintain a dedicated public affairs function; any interactions related to EU policies occur in the context of community events, educational programmes and ecosystem discussions.
Communication Activities
The organisation hosts events, workshops, and community discussions that address topics related to entrepreneurship, innovation, education, and the development of startup ecosystems in Europe. These activities often include public discussions, expert talks, networking events, and collaborative workshops bringing together entrepreneurs, educators, civil society representatives, and public sector stakeholders. The organisation also communicates about these topics through online channels, community newsletters, and event-related publications. These communication activities aim to facilitate knowledge exchange, share practical experience from entrepreneurial and community-building initiatives, and contribute to broader discussions about innovation, skills development, and the role of entrepreneurship in Europe’s social and economic development.
