Mission & Goals
The Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights is an Italian not-for-profit foundation dedicated to education, training and research in the fields of international and comparative criminal justice and human rights. The main objective of the Siracusa Institute is to contribute to international peace and security through the effective implementation of criminal law and criminal justice, and to promote the rule of law and the protection of human rights in criminal justice systems worldwide. It works towards the establishment of international criminal justice and ending impunity of international crimes such as genocide and crimes against humanity. Throughout its history, the Siracusa International Institute has organized 793 conferences, training and educational seminars and meetings of experts attended by 67,653 jurists from 173 countries and 527 universities.

Organisation Members
Members of the Board of Directors of the Institute are: 6 (six) members are ex officio members, and more specifically the representatives of the following entities: - the Mayor of the City of Siracusa, founding entity; - the Mayor of the City of Noto, founding entity; - the Councilor for Education and Training of the Sicilian Region, founding entity - the President of AIDP; - the President of the Academic Board of the Institute; - the President of the Italian Group of AIDP. 6 (six) experts are appointed by the Board of Directors of The Siracusa International Institute on the proposal of the AIDP (Conseil de Direction); 6 (six) experts are appointed by the Board of Directors of The Siracusa International Institute, on the proposal of the outgoing President of the Institute, after consultation with the Vice Presidents, at least two of them being non-Italian internationally well-known jurists and at least one member being an Italian and well-known jurist. the Board of Directors may appoint up to maximum three more members, representatives of States or entities which have demonstrated interest and support to the activities of the Institute, in particular through financial support to the management or to the activities of the Institute.
