Mission & Goals
The Public Investment Fund (PIF) is the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, mandated to drive economic diversification and long-term sustainable growth. Its core mission is to invest strategically across domestic and global markets to generate strong financial returns while supporting the development of new sectors and capabilities in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. Its remit covers a wide range of sectors, including infrastructure, technology, energy, tourism and entertainment, with a dual focus on financial performance and broader economic impact.
EU Legislative Interests
PIF closely follows a range of EU policy and regulatory files relevant to its global investment activities, including EU budget and investment discussions (notably around EU financing instruments and capital markets), the Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR), EU merger control, and foreign direct investment (FDI) screening frameworks. It also monitors broader Single Market developments, competition policy trends, state aid rules, and initiatives aimed at deepening the Capital Markets Union. In addition, PIF tracks sector-specific policies in areas such as energy, infrastructure, digital and industrial strategy, as well as evolving sustainability and ESG-related regulations, given their potential impact on cross-border investments and long-term asset management.
