Communication Activities
The Panel on Gamma and Electron Irradiation (Irradiation Panel) has written an open letter to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) about the EMA Annex 12 guidance on the use of ionising radiation in the manufacture of medicinal products. In this letter the Irradiation Panel points out that Annex 12 has not been revised for many years and no longer reflects current standards and practices for the technology, and specifically it does not recognise the use of X-ray technology. The Irradiation Panel has offered to assist the EMA in updating Annex 12.
