Mission & Goals
Miaan Group, founded in 2019, enhances civil society's capacity to promote human rights, good governance, and social justice in Iran and the wider region through advocacy and internet technology. We work with local networks and diaspora-based defenders to develop advocacy initiatives, provide capacity building and mentoring, and conduct digital security audits and training. Miaan’s work focus on three main areas: 1. Policy and Legal Advocacy: We influence and formulate policy reform strategies by leveraging international bodies and foreign governments. 2. Internet Freedom and Digital Hygiene: Partnering with organizations like Access Now and ARTICLE 19, we champion internet freedom and digital security. 3. Rights of Marginalized Groups: Collaborating with Minority Rights Group International and others, we research and advocate for the rights of ethnic and religious minorities, women, and persons with disabilities.
