Mission & Goals
The Investment Association (IA) champions the interests of the UK-based investment management industry. We represent 250 investment managers, a third of whom are headquartered in the EU, and who collectively operate from 642 offices across the EU. Our members put €11 trillion to work in the global economy. They manage €2.5 trillion for European savers and invested €843 billion into EU businesses and projects last year while providing access to global investment opportunities. Our mission is to make investing better. Better for our clients, so they achieve their financial goals. Better for companies, so they get the capital they need to grow. And better for the economy, so everyone prospers.
EU Legislative Interests
All dossiers relating to investment management, whether via funds (e.g. UCITS) or for institutions such as insurers and pension schemes, and covering related matters including tax, accounting and disclosure and investor protection as it relates to these and all other investment products. Equally, we track developments such as MiFIR, covering the wholesale markets that investment management makes accessible to customers, along with related issues such as operations and the prevention of market abuse. In addition, the IA follows EU work on risk and risk management, including the systemic risks posed by institutions such as CCPs (clearing houses) and banks. We also cover sustainability-related matters, such as CSDDD and SFDR.
Communication Activities
We assist members in implementing EU legislation and host or sponsor occasional events in London and Brussels, such as conferences, to which EU officials, policy makers and MEPs and staff may be invited.
