Mission & Goals
The Good Food Institute Europe is a nonprofit think tank helping to build a more sustainable, secure and just food system by diversifying protein production. We work with scientists, businesses and policymakers to advance options like plant-based and cultivated meat – ensuring they are delicious, affordable and accessible across Europe. By making meat from plants and fermentation, and cultivating it from cells, we can build more resilient food systems and feed more people with fewer resources. GFI Europe is powered by philanthropy.
EU Legislative Interests
We work and engage with EU legislative proposals and policies relevant to creating a robust and evidence-based regulatory pathway to market and a level playing field for plant-based, fermentation-made and cultivated meat, eggs, dairy and seafood in Europe. We also engage with the EU to advise on public investment opportunities into research, innovation, and scale-up to advance alternative proteins. We follow multiple EU policies, including but not limited to: Biotech Act I and II, Horizon Europe/FP10, the European Competitiveness Fund, and the EU Protein Plan.
