Mission & Goals
The Global Disinformation Index is a not-for-profit organisation that operates on the three principles of neutrality, independence and transparency. Our vision is a world free from disinformation and its harms. Our mission is to catalyse industry and government to defund disinformation.
EU Legislative Interests
The Global Disinformation Index is tracking and supporting EU commitments to combat disinformation as outlined in the EU Code of Conduct on Disinformation and the Digital Services Act. GDI is also working on tackling foreign disinformation, information manipulation and interference and on strengthening its strategic communication at a global policy level. In 2026 we will be focusing our work on the following areas: Digital Services Act relating to transparency obligations for online platforms in respect of online advertising Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference Information Integrity and the European Democracy Shield Code of Conduct on Disinformation We map existing ad tech company policies on disinformation and monitor infringements. We believe this information will be a useful tool for policy makers as they consider necessary measures as part of the DSA and the Code of Conduct on Disinformation.
Communication Activities
Participation in events and stakeholder workshops on disinformation. Publishing studies and investigations on disinformation, esp. in social media. As a data-driven organisation, research lies at the core of everything we do.
