The Future Society is a non-profit 501(c)(3) whose mission is to align AI through better governance. We develop, advocate for, and facilitate the implementation of AI governance mechanisms, ranging from laws and regulations to voluntary frameworks such as global principles, norms, standards, and corporate policies. As of 2023, we are focusing on the research and development of advanced AI systems, where robust safeguards will be necessary for ensuring that AI systems are safe and adhere to fundamental human values.

Member Of
The Future Society is not a member of nor affiliated with any associations, federations, networks or other bodies. We do not represent interests of any entity other than The Future Society.
Organisation Members
The Future Society is not a membership-based organization, and therefore doesn't have members or affiliate/partner organizations. We do not represent interests of any entity other than The Future Society. Our website's "Overview page" ( https://thefuturesociety.org/about-us/ ) includes a "Our network" section, which is subtitled "We are proud to have worked with the following organizations:" This should be understood literally - the list below are logos from organizations we have worked with on one or more activities in the past (sometimes several years ago); it doesn't form a formal inter-institutional partnership or membership. That section is only meant to showcase our history and how connected we are in the ecosystem of organizations relevant to our mission and working on AI governance.
Additional Information
The Future Society also organises an annual event (The Athens Roundtable), whose costs are often sponsored by various entities (foundations, law firms, companies, IGOs, other non-profits, ...). The sponsorship packages represent each ~1% of our budget, but together represent at most ~10% of our yearly revenues.
