Mission & Goals

The European Technology and Innovation Platform on Renewable Heating and Cooling (RHC-ETIP), aims at playing a decisive role in protecting Europe’s leading position in renewable heating and cooling technology. We want society to benefit from an increased contribution of renewable heating and cooling, which will help to reach the vital goal of a carbon-neutral world by mid-century. The European Commission (EC) has supported RHC-ETIP since 2008. The Platform is a forum where European industry and research stakeholders can define technological research needs and set strategic priorities to increase the use of renewable energy sources for heating and cooling.

EU Legislative Interests

The RHC-ETIP focuses on all policies that impact the general deployment of RHC technologies in the European energy sector. The specific RHC-ETIP focus is notably on enabling the achievement of the RHC sector's research and innovation objectives and priorities, and making sure the policies and regulations adopted at the European level contribute to accelerating the market uptake of innovative technologies, solutions and processes. - European Green Deal - Fit for 55%: Renewable Energy Directive, RED recast (Directive EU/2023/2413), Energy Efficiency Directive, EPBD... - REPowerEU, Market Design - Critical Raw Materials Act - Horizon Europe - Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan) of the EC and particular the Action 5 on New materials & technologies for buildings; action 6 on energy efficiency for industry; and action 4 on positive energy districts - EU Innovation Fund
