Mission & Goals
The ETIP HYDROPOWER serves as a cornerstone initiative to unify and strengthen the hydropower sector across Europe by fostering a robust network of stakeholders from industry, academia, research institutions, civil society, and sectoral associations. Its mission is to advance and promote the sector’s Research and Innovation Agenda (RIA) and Strategic Industry Roadmap (SIR), aligning them with emerging policy priorities and future needs. Through consensus-driven strategic advice to the European Commission and the SET Plan, the platform focuses on market opportunities, funding requirements, and ecological considerations such as biodiversity and continuity. By identifying innovation barriers and enhancing the uptake of research outcomes, ETIP HYDROPOWER positions itself as a trusted interlocutor for EU institutions, Member States, and Associated Countries, while actively cultivating synergies with national, regional, and EU-level platforms to ensure coordinated and impactful action.
EU Legislative Interests
The ETIP HYDROPOWER focuses on all policies that impact the general deployment of hydropower R&I in the European energy sector. The specific focus is notably on enabling the achievement of the hydropower sector's research and innovation objectives and priorities, and making sure the policies and regulations adopted at the European level contribute to accelerating the market uptake of innovative technologies, solutions and processes. - European Green Deal - Fit for 55%: Renewable Energy Directive... - REPowerEU, Market Design - Horizon Europe - Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan) of the EC - EU Innovation Fund
