2. THE SUBJECT, OBJECTIVE AND GOALS OF THE CENTRE 2.1. The Centre's objectives are to: a. Facilitate democratic reforms in countries aspiring to join the EU. b. Promote the principles of good governance and the rule of law by European standards. c. Strengthen the foundations of sustainable democratic governance. d. Challenge past stereotypes. e. Enhance public understanding of strategies to combat disinformation and the manipulation of public opinion. f. Advocate for European values, democratic ideals, and a European way of life. g. Share the success stories of small countries achieving peace, stability, and prosperity within the global community. h. Provide European and global audiences with comprehensive insights into political developments in the Eastern Partnership countries, fostering informed dialogue and engagement with the region.

EU Legislative Interests

To effectively promote democratic reforms, good governance, and EU values while countering disinformation, "The EU Awareness Center: Knowledge Against Manipulation" could target the following recent EU legislative proposals and policies: Proposal for a Regulation on European Democracy Action Plan (EDAP); Directive on countering disinformation and ensuring electoral integrity in the EU; Regulation on strengthening the rule of law within the European Union; Communication from the Commission on Strengthening Media Freedom and Pluralism in the EU; European Parliament Resolution on Promoting Civic Education and Awareness of EU Values; Council Decision on Enhancing Transparency and Accountability in EU Institutions; European Parliament Report on Protecting Digital Freedoms and Combating Information Manipulation. These initiatives align with the organisation's goals of promoting democratic principles, countering disinformation, and fostering awareness of EU values among European citizens.

The EU Awareness Centre is considering grants, public funding, and EU funding as its main sources of funding. Currently, the organization is finalizing funding proposals for submission to various international foundations, such as the European Endowment for Democracy (EED), Conrad Adenauer Foundation, Fridrich Ebert Foundation, Open Society Foundations (OSF), etc.
