Mission & Goals

The operations and initiatives of the Brussels office will fall within the following range of activities: 1. Explore opportunities and challenges related to Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB), humanitarian assistance, volunteerism and youths; 2. Contribute to EU policy in the Church’s fields of interest; 3. Expand, deepen and promote knowledge and expertise on FoRB in Europe; 4. Foster dialogue among opinion leaders, religious leaders, academics and officials engaged in FoRB issues at multi-national organizations and in their home countries.

The EU & International Affairs Office of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a member of: - European Platform on Religious Intolerance and Discrimination (EPRID), www.eprid.eu. - European Policy Centre, http://www.epc.eu/en/members

Organisation Members

Our office represents The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the European Union institutions, the OACPS, OSCE and NATO. The administration of the Church is facilitated by geographic areas. Areas are overseen by an area president and two counselors, who are usually General Authority Seventies. Under the direction of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, area presidencies provide spiritual and administrative direction to the leaders and members of the Church in their areas. As of January 2026, there are 24 areas.

Additional Information

The office budget and operating costs are financed by the Association Belge de l'Eglise de Jésus-Christ des Saints des Derniers Jours ASBL. The total budget covers the salary paid to the full-time staff, operating costs (rent, utilities, office supplies, etc.), public relations, and the activities under the scope if this registration.
