Mission & Goals
CESR works for a world in which a life with dignity is not a privilege for a few, but a right guaranteed to all. We are an international non-governmental organization that aims to transform the dominant economic system. Our vision is of a world in which a just distribution of resources and power enables current and future generations to live with dignity, in full enjoyment of their economic and social rights. In pursuit of that vision, our mission is to harness the power of human rights to inspire fairer and more sustainable economies. We work to improve the lives of everyone affected by the unequal distribution of resources and power around the world. Using an innovative research approach, grounded in the lived realities of different communities, we build compelling evidence to decode the economic structures that harm people’s rights, cultivate alliances to push for their transformation, and advocate to reform the policies that sustain them.
EU Legislative Interests
We are particularly interested in influencing discussions aroung the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), and related processes such as the Omnibus, in so far as it related to climate justice, gender justice, tax, debt, human rights.
Communication Activities
We plan to co-host events in the European Parliament with other EU-based organisations that are already part of the EU Transparency Register. We also plan to do events outside the EP with an aim of inviting likeminded CSOs as well as other EU instutitions such as the Commission and EEAS. All events and any dissemination activites related to the event are likely to aim to publicise policy and research produced by CESR, solely or in conjuction with others, focused on climate justice, gender justice, tax, debt, human rights. For instance, CESR works in close collaboration with allies such as Eurodad, the Zoe Institute for Future Economies, Human Rights Watch and others.
