Mission & Goals
The Brookings Institution (Brookings) is a private, non-profit, independent public policy research organization. Brookings is a tax-exempt charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. For over 100 years, Brookings has analyzed current and emerging issues and produced new ideas that matter. Research at Brookings is conducted to inform the public debate and provide high-quality, non-partisan analysis on the challenges facing an increasingly interdependent world.
EU Legislative Interests
Brookings is organized into five research programs that focus on economic studies, metropolitan studies, governance, global economy and development, and foreign policy. These programs conduct research that helps stakeholders and the public understand and address on one hand, the dynamics of world affairs and the challenges they pose to the international community, and on the other, how leaders can build more secure governance and economic systems that deliver prosperity and well-being for all. Thematic areas of focus include, by way of example, the intersection of economics and security; transatlantic relations; fiscal policy; the implications of emerging technologies; global education and skills development; financing for development; and multilateralism. The Brookings Institution follows and analyzes developments in the EU and its institutions in order to 1) understand the dynamics of world affairs and the challenges and opportunities they pose to the international community, and 2) generate research and analysis to inform policies and institutions that promote peace, security and prosperity around the world.
Communication Activities
Brookings communicates its research, analysis and policy findings through reports, books, monographs, articles, blog posts, op-eds, meetings, events, media appearances, congressional testimony and briefings.
