Mission & Goals

Terraformation is building capacity for local communities to scale biodiverse reforestation towards meeting the trillion trees goal. With an international staff of 80+, the organization empowers smaller, often neglected forest teams in tropical hotspots to access catalytic finance through biodiverse carbon credits, providing new incentives for local communities to invest in restoration. Since 2020, 22 projects in 14 countries have regenerated 4800 ha of forest with 349 different native species, within a potential restoration pool of 3 million ha. Over a thousand jobs have been created, more than half for women. Other key accomplishments include the development of Terraware forestry software. The open source solution improves tracking, forest management, and investor transparency for forest creators. It is being used in 68 countries worldwide. In addition, the organization has developed mobile, solar-powered seed banking technology to help address the global shortage of native seeds.
