Mission & Goals
Tech Lounge is a non-profit association that kindles young people’s personal growth and social engagement through tech innovation and trust in digital technologies. Our programs incite young students and graduates to find their voice and make it real in hands-on labs of tech innovation, working through state-of-the-art technologies and mindfulness to users’ experiences. We bridge student and University communities with the IT industry and the Romanian startup ecosystem, cultivating young people’s self-efficacy in tech creativity and entrepreneurship. We pursue a mission of advancing public trust in digital technologies through education and national and European level regulations that minimize harms from digital technologies, enhance transparency for the general public, and support individuals' autonomy when navigating digital platforms.
EU Legislative Interests
We are targeting legislative proposals and education strategies concerning Digital Identities, Artificial Intelligence, Privacy and Personal data, and other issues concerning digital technologies, innovation, and education, such as: the European Digital Identity Act, the AI Act and its successful implementation, the implementation and evaluation of the Digital Services Act and the Digital Markets Act, and the implementation and evaluation of the GDPR. At education level we aim to improve European strategies by making sure that they reflect the Romanian experiences and they take advantage of the Romanian potential in the digital technology arena (such as the initiatives within the Digital Education Action Plan). Tech Lounge Association is participating in Romanian initiatives in the European Parliament dedicated to digital technologies and education, such as the Romanian Digital Day - 14 November 2023 and the Romanian Digital Day - 11 October 2022.
