Mission & Goals

The Systemic Investing Initiative (SII) (a.k.a.TransCap Initiative (TCI)) is a tax-exempt nonprofit Swiss association working at the nexus of real-economy systems change and finance. Our mission is to build the field of systemic investing — a new investment logic for funding systems transformation. We do so by running an open innovation space for developing, testing, and scaling systemic investing through research, prototyping, and field building. Systemic investing is the application of systems thinking to the practice of investing — in pursuit of social justice and a healthy planet. It is moving beyond single-point solutions to the coordinated deployment of multiple types of money in collaboration with other stakeholders. We sometimes describe it as a “1+1=3” approach to funding and investing, where the sum of the portfolio is greater than its parts.

EU Legislative Interests

Strategic Dialogue on the Future of EU Agriculture; Agrifood Just Transition Fund Vision for Agriculture and Food: Shaping the future of farming and the agri-food sector for future generations in Europe.

Communication Activities

TCI, in collaboration with Metabolic, released a paper titled "Toward a resilient and sustainable agrifood system in Europe: unlocking capital flows (BASELINE ANALYSIS OF FUNDING LANDSCAPE, BARRIERS, AND OPPORTUNITIES)." The paper offers a clear summary of the main challenges related to capital deployment in the agri-food transition and was followed by workshops in Brussels (10.7.25 & 16.10.25). These workshops focused on exploring potential interventions to address key challenges, unlock capital flows toward resilient, future-oriented, and fair food systems, and discuss practical ways to bridge the financing gap in the EU agrifood system while tackling critical issues like generational renewal.
