Mission & Goals
The Syria Justice and Accountability Centre (SJAC) strives to prevent impunity, promote redress, and facilitate principled reform. SJAC works to ensure that human rights violations in Syria are comprehensively documented and preserved for use in transitional justice and peace-building. SJAC also supports documenters inside Syria, providing them with resources and technical guidance, and coordinates with other actors working toward similar aims: a Syria defined by justice, respect for human rights, and rule of law.
EU Legislative Interests
The main focus of SJAC's proposals and policies targeted within the EU are those related to Syria, in applicance to principles of transitional justice and accountability within the Syrian context and in support of Syrian civil society, as well as in support of the process of transitional government in Syria post-2024 within a broader context of support and respect for international law and human rights. SJAC will also be active in proposals and policies that target the well-being and legal standing of Syrian refugees within the EU.
Communication Activities
As of 2025, there are no broader plans for activities within the EU related to the above policies, with the exception of the occasional blog publication, briefings to stakeholders and webinars.
