Mission & Goals
To inform and eduate about the scientifically proven evidence, often hitherto ignored, when comparing health effects from smoking compared to oral tobacco and modern oral products. The Association of Swedish Snus Manufacturers represents companies that produce, market, and sell Swedish snus. Members include PMI, Skruf Snus, Gotlandssnus, BAT Sweden and Another Snus Factory. Members of the association are also members of the Swedish Food Federation (Livsmedelsföretagen) which represents the food industry in interactions with government authorities, regulators, and the media. The association also operates Snusforumet, an online news and information hub that aims to increase knowledge and awareness of Swedish snus among public health experts and policymakers around the world.
EU Legislative Interests
TED, Tobacco Excise Directive TPD, Tobacco Products Directive The internal market is not working, as there is a ban on snus, and also EU Member states trying to form trade barriers on the internal market regarding Nicotine Pouches, while continuing to allow cigarettes. We aim for a fair, non-discriminative internal market where consumer's choice is taken into account. Sweden now has a viable legislation and taxation on nicotine pouches. Harmonized directives along those principles is necessary if EU is to combat cancer in the future.
