Mission & Goals

Supramundane Agency (trading name of SRL Robin Berjon) brings together technology and governance in support of bringing democracy to the internet. The idea is simple: the digital sphere is almost entirely controlled by a small number of companies with authoritarian governance. And because the internet is infrastructure for all of society, it is making society authoritarian. Supramundane works to make the internet democratic primarily through: - Deep technical work to evolve the architecture of the internet to align it with democratic governance (DASL, IPFS, AT…) - Standards-setting work in global standards organisations (W3C, IETF) - Organising the governance of open standard protocol communities (CID Congress, AT Developers, Eurosky…) - Developing strategies to regain tech sovereignty, because there is no democracy without sovereignty (e.g. Eurostack reports) - Developing policy-oriented reports (e.g. on algorithmic pluralism, digital sovereignty, or public-interest internet)

EU Legislative Interests

Any policy improving tech sovereignty, typically by improving competitiveness, anti-monopoly enforcement, privacy enforcement, or democratic resilience. This includes: - Enforcement strategies in antimonopoly cases (e.g. supporting structural remedies in the Google adtech case) - Improved guidance and better strategies for GDPR and ePrivacy (for instance through improve EDPB guidance and GDPR Article 40/41 standards) - Meaningful DMA enforcement, notably by taking a much more proactive and multistakeholder approach to its enforcement and less deference to tech monopolies - Strategies to deploy the DSA that are better aligned with producing democratic outcomes, such as algorithmic pluralism - Open standards, open source, democracy-friendly protocols, and digital public infrastructure (DPI) with committees, such as ITRE - Much more assertive measures as part of the Democracy Shield - Funding for public interest digital infrastructure in the MFF
