Communication Activities

Book launch in Brussels on 29 October 2024: “Supergrid – Super Solution”, co-authored by the late Eddie O’Connor and Kevin O’Sullivan, Environment and Science Editor of The Irish Times, ‘Supergrid – Super Solution’ presents a roadmap for transitioning from fossil fuels to a zero-carbon economy amid the energy crisis. This book demonstrates the essential role of a European supergrid to efficiently transmit vast amounts of cost-competitive, regionally produced energy to where it’s most urgently needed. “A supergrid will not only unlock access to renewable energy, but also ensure a more secure and stable energy supply across the continent,” said Belgian Energy Minister, Tinne Van der Straeten at the launch. Barry Andrews MEP noted that the book contains “an idea, a vision, a European solution to an international issue”. He continued, “Despite setbacks and a complicated political situation, recent Commission communications indicate real ambition for investment in cross border grid infrastructure.”
