Mission & Goals

Fingo is an NGO platform and an expert on global development. We represent 260 Finnish civil society organisations and strive to build a more just world for all. Fingo and its member organisations work to make life better – for everyone. In 2018, Kepa and the Finnish NGDO Platform to the European Union, Kehys, formed the new umbrella organisation: Finnish Development NGOs – Fingo. Kehys used to be a member of the transparency register (ID number: 00358354936-30) Fingo functions as an umbrella organisation of 250 member organisations working in the areas of sustainable development, development cooperation and global citizenship education. Our core tasks include training, advocacy and communications. We believe that knowledge drives sustainable development. That's why Fingo works hard to strengthen and amplify people’s understanding of the solutions that are available – and challenges decision makers to act, while encouraging individuals and communities to actively participate.

EU Legislative Interests

We have participated in advocacy work to a small extent in following processes: • EU's multi-annual financial framework, foreign policy, climate funding, due diligence legislation and official development aid. • Feedback to our umbrella organisations’ advocacy work. Important umbrella organisations for us are Concord, Climate Action Network - Europe, and Eurodad.

Communication Activities

In 2025 we have had meetings with MEPs Sirpa Pietikäinen, Katri Kulmuni and Mika Aaltola. We have also met with the assistants of Anna-Maja Henriksson, Sirpa Pietikäinen, Li Andersson, Maria Ohisalo and Merja Kyllönen. We have participated in advocacy and information campaigns, mostly in Finland, related to EU due diligence legislation. We have sent our positions to MEPs and written open letters to Finnish decision-makers on the MFF. We have participated in parliamentary hearings in Finland on MFF. We have advocated on EU policy towards Israel, specifically the association agreement. In 2024, we had two meetings with MEPs considering climate funding and official development aid. MEPs were Anna-Maja Henriksson and Mika Aaltola. We also coorganised a public event on EU's development policy in October 2024 with commissioner Jutta Urpilainen as one of the speakers (keynote). The event was organised in Helsinki, Finland, together with Finnish UN Association and commissioner Upilainen's cabinet.
