Mission & Goals
Studio Legale Fabiano is an independent Italian law firm, founded in 1994, specialised in Artificial Intelligence, Data Protection, Privacy, Cybersecurity, and Digital Innovation. Our mission is to provide legal and regulatory expertise to support trustworthy AI, ensuring compliance with the EU AI Act, GDPR, and related frameworks. The firm advances research on the ethical, societal, and legal dimensions of AI, with a focus on high-risk systems, systemic risks, conformity assessment, and standardisation. As a member of the United Nations University AI Network and active in ISO/IEC, CEN/CENELEC, and UNI/UNINFO committees, we contribute to shaping international and European standards. Through publications, teaching, and public speaking, including the 2025 book Artificial Intelligence, Neural Networks and Privacy, we promote AI literacy and informed debate, fostering innovation grounded in ethics, rights, and security.

Communication Activities
Studio Legale Fabiano engages in a wide range of communication and dissemination activities related to EU policies on Artificial Intelligence, Data Protection, Privacy, Cybersecurity, and Digital Innovation. We aim to increase awareness, foster AI literacy, and promote compliance with the EU regulatory framework through publications, events, academic initiatives, and outreach towards EU institutions and stakeholders. A core channel is the NicFab Blog (www.nicfab.eu), where we regularly publish in-depth analyses of EU legislative and policy developments. Articles cover, among others, the Artificial Intelligence Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689), the General Data Protection Regulation, the Data Act, the Data Governance Act, the Digital Services Act, the Digital Markets Act, and the NIS2 Directive. Recent publications have addressed the AI Act training-data transparency template, the GPAI Code of Practice, and implications for systemic risks, bias, large language models, and conformity assessment. The blog, accessible in English and Italian, serves as a dissemination tool for academics, professionals, regulators, and civil society. Beyond online publications, Studio Legale Fabiano is actively involved in international conferences, workshops, and policy debates, often with direct participation of EU officials and experts. Our representative, Nicola Fabiano, has delivered well over one hundred talks on AI, privacy, and cybersecurity across Europe and internationally, contributing to informed debate on the EU digital strategy and the practical implementation of the AI Act. We also contribute to academic dissemination and education. Nicola Fabiano serves as Adjunct Professor, designing and delivering university courses on AI governance, privacy, and EU data law. We organise seminars and training for public administrations, SMEs, and professionals on AI Act readiness, governance frameworks, risk management, and accountability. These activities include briefing sessions and webinars that translate complex legal provisions into actionable guidance for diverse audiences. Our 2025 book, Artificial Intelligence, Neural Networks and Privacy: Striking a Balance between Innovation, Knowledge and Ethics in the Digital Age (Italian and English editions), provides theoretical and operational tools for understanding the AI Act, addressing systemic risks of AI (including LLMs and bias), cybersecurity, neuro-rights, and digital identity. The volume has been presented in public events, university lectures, and professional trainings, enhancing EU-level literacy and debate on AI regulation. We engage in expert networks and advisory settings, including the United Nations University AI Network and the EDPB Support Pool of Experts, and contribute to standardisation through ISO/IEC, CEN/CENELEC, and UNI/UNINFO committees. This bridge between policy and standards helps align EU legislation with technical specifications and market practice. We monitor guidance from EU bodies (including the European Commission and the European AI Office) and provide commentaries, checklists, and governance notes to support compliance and trustworthy deployment. Communication is amplified through bilingual outreach (IT/EN) across professional channels (e.g., LinkedIn) and open educational resources (slides, handouts, recorded lectures, and summaries), ensuring accessibility for regulators, notified bodies, conformity assessment actors, market surveillance authorities, industry, and civil society. Where appropriate, we participate in public consultations and stakeholder dialogues, and share independent position notes on emerging issues (e.g., high-risk classification, fundamental-rights impact, sandbox governance, and transparency duties). Through this strategy, we provide independent input to EU AI law and policy.
