Mission & Goals

The Association of Roma in Poland was established at the beginning of 1992. Our primary mission is to create conditions for the full participation of Roma in the life of the Polish nation, of which we feel we are members despite our distinct identity. Centuries-old stereotypes have perpetuated a negative image of Roma within society. Therefore, we engage in active, multifaceted efforts aimed at improving the social, economic, and cultural situation of our communities. One of the main goals of the Association is to commemorate and raise awareness about the extermination and Holocaust of Roma. We achieve this through extensive scientific and publishing activities, as well as organizing ceremonies and exhibitions. Our initiatives encompass the majority of Roma communities in Poland. MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION OF ROMA IN POLAND: • Educational and research activities • Cultural activities • Publishing activities

EU Roma Strategic Framework for Equality, Inclusion, and Participation (2020–2030) The Association actively engages with the EU Roma Strategic Framework, which aims to combat discrimination, improve social inclusion, and enhance participation of Roma communities across Europe. This framework sets specific targets for Member States and provides guidance on achieving equality and inclusion for Roma people. 2. Council Recommendation on Roma Equality, Inclusion, and Participation (2021) This recommendation encourages EU Member States to adopt national strategies for Roma inclusion. The Association monitors its implementation in Poland, particularly in areas such as access to education, housing, and employment. 3. The Association supports efforts to implement these measures in Poland. 4. Anti-Racism Action Plan (2020–2025) As part of broader efforts to combat racism and xenophobia, this plan includes actions against antigypsyism. The Association aligns its advocacy with this initiative to ensure that Roma rights are included in anti-discrimination policies. 5. Roma Civil Monitoring Initiative (2021–2025) This EU-funded project strengthens civil society’s capacity to monitor and assess national strategies for Roma inclusion. The Association participates in this initiative to provide independent evaluations of Poland’s progress in meeting EU objectives.
