Mission & Goals
The World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA) aims to build a global movement to increase the private sector’s contribution to a sustainable future for all. It does so by assessing 2,000 of the world’s most influential companies on their impact on people and the planet, evaluating their performance across climate, social, and nature transitions through a series of benchmarks. WBA’s data and insights are free and publicly available. They are grounded in the best available science and aligned with international norms and standards. The benchmarks enable companies and stakeholders to see how each company compares with its peers, identify where improvements can be made, and highlight where urgent action is needed. They equip governments, investors, and civil society with the tools to hold companies accountable for their contributions to sustainable development.
