Mission & Goals
Protecting civilians against acts of war, ending armed conflicts, and fostering peaceful and just societies, promoting human rights, as well as contributing to the international legal order and a culture of peace in the Netherlands and globally. Our aim is to achieve inclusive peace by influencing societal processes of change, fostering equality, freedom, inclusion, trust, solidarity, and collaboration. Through three main strategies we aim to influence the processes of change in a purposeful way. 1. Supporting resilient and peaceful societies 2. Preventing and mitigating violent conflict and civilian harm 3. Addressing the external drivers of conflict We work with two cross-cutting themes: Gender-Transformative Change and New Technologies
EU Legislative Interests
- Protection of civilians in armed conflict and civilian harm mitigation and response in relation to Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) missions, security sector reform and disarmament, demobilisation and re-integration in EU common foreign and security policy (CFSP) and action, including European Peace Facility - Business, conflict and human rights in relation to EU critical raw materials policies, the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, and the EU Global Gateway strategy - Humanitarian disarmament in relation to ReArm Europe Plan / Readiness 2030, European security & defence policy, Community Based Security and Citizens Rights - Dealing with the Past / Transitional Justice in relation to EU common foreign and security policy (CFSP) and action, EU international partnerships with third countries, and EU external action in third countries - Gender, Peace & Security in relation to EU commitments on Women, Peace & Security (WPS), EU common foreign and security policy (CFSP), and EU international partnerships and external action in third countries Geographic reach: Middle East, Ukraine, Africa, Colombia, The Balkans
