Mission & Goals
We facilitate communication and dialogue on the subject of racism and racial discrimination against Asians in Europe, and strive to promote cultural diversity and human rights of Asian diasporas in Europe. To do this, we first center evidence-based (academic) research in surveying the Asian diasporas’ experiences of racism and discrimination. Based on the findings, we research solutions to remedying them, engaging directly with affected members and collaborating with fellow Asian as well as non-Asian professionals. We share our findings with the European Commission, as well as national governments, other nonprofits, and corporations.
EU Legislative Interests
Asian Voices Europe addresses racial discrimination against the Asian diaspora in Europe through research, policy advocacy, and civil society engagement at the EU level. Our work focuses on amplifying voices and lived experience of Asian diasporic communities and advocating evidence-based recommendations to European policymaking processes. AVE promotes dialogues between civil society, researchers, and policy makers to strengthen the participation of Asian communities in EU discussions on equality, racism, and civic engagement. Currently we are working on the following EU specific legislation: EU Anti-racism Strategy, EU Equality data collection initiatives, EU Civil Society Strategy and civic space protection frameworks, EU policies addressing racial policing in public discourses and digital spaces; Previously we have worked on the EU Anti-Racism Action Plan.
