Mission & Goals
SQM Europe is a subsidiary of SQM. SQM, a global mining company operating in northern Chile, is present in industries that are strategic for sustainable development, such as health, food, technology and the clean energies that move the world. EU Legislative Interests
SQM is one of the leading producers in the world of lithium, nitrates and iodine chemicals. Therefor we are interested to engage with the EU and its institutions on: - CLP (Proposal of harmonized classification and labelling at EU level of lithium carbonate, lithium hydroxide and lithium chloride) - Critical Raw Materials Act - Corporate Supply Chain Due Diligence Directive - EU Battery Regulation - EU Taxonomy - REACH - EU-Chile bilateral trade agreement (FTA) revision - Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive
Communication Activities
SQM Europe as a member of the Global Battery Alliance, EASE, IRMA, Eurometaux and ILiA, has supported and/or attended some of these organisations activities. SQM has advertised in Politico Europe and Euractiv and has supported events of Politico and EIT Raw Materials as SQM Europe.
